Slovenia's New Ambassador Departed for the USA

Ljubljana, 3 September - Dr. Danilo Turk left for the USA where he will undertake his new duties as Slovenia's ambassador and the leader of Slovenia's permanent mission to the United Nations in New York. Before his departure he visited President of the Presidency Milan Kučan and President of the Assembly Dr. France Bučar, says the report from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Among his other functions Dr. Turk is also the president of the Society for International Law in Slovenia, a member of the International Law Association and a member of the Institute for Human Rights in Strasbourg. Since September 1991 he actively participated in the conferences on Yugoslavia and, in connection with these, in the preparation of Slovenian memorandums for Badinter's Arbitration Commission as well as in the formulation of Slovenia's positions regarding the succession of former Yugoslavia. During the past ten years he was active in expert and non-governmental organizations of the U.N.
