Fewer Ministries

Ljubljana, 17 September - The new law on the government of Slovenia, which was passed today by the government and which is included in the electoral legislation, states that the present 23 ministries will be reduced to 14. The new law proposes that the government have not more than three vice-presidents and not more than three ministers without portfolios.
The draft law assumes that the Slovenian government would have ministries for finance, internal affairs, foreign affairs, defense, jurisdiction and administration, economy, farming and forestry, traffic and communications, environment, labour, health and social care, culture, education and sport, and science and technology. The Ministry for the Economy would comprise the present ministries of industry and construction, small business, energy, trade, and tourism and catering.
