Ljubljana, 18 December - Security in the Schengen zone relies heavily on the Schengen Information System (SIS), the computer database incorporating data on entry bans, wanted and missing persons, and stolen items in the border-area. The importance of SIS was demonstrated in mid-2006, as the upcoming round of expansion was nearly derailed by the delays in the launch of the next-generation system.
