Interior Minister Boštjan Poklukar has put Police Commissioner Senad Jušić in charge of a "comprehensive reorganisation" of the Security and Protection Centre, a special police unit in charge of protecting senior officials, in the aftermath of claims of long-running misdeeds at the unit.

Responding to a report that members of the police unit in charge of protecting senior officials had spied on a prosecutor in a high-profile mafia case and the National Assembly president, Prime Minister Robert Golob said on Friday that he had been raising concern about the situation in the unit for two years.

Opposition parties have called on Interior Minister Boštjan Poklukar and Police Commissioner Senad Jušić to resign in the aftermath of fresh revelations of misdeeds at the Security and Protection Centre, a special police unit which protects senior officials and judicial staff deemed at risk.

A police unit in charge of protecting senior officials reportedly spied on a prosecutor in the Kavač Clan case and National Assembly President Urška Klakočar Zupančič, the prosecutor revealed in last night's current affairs show Tarča through her representative. Police also reportedly failed to act in case of a Kavač Klan repenter.
