2009 Budget Deficit to Increase to 2.7% of GDP

Ljubljana, 22 January - The government adopted on Thursday the guidelines for this-year's supplementary budget bill, which envisage an increase in the budget deficit from 0.3% to 2.7% of GDP. The general government deficit is likely to slightly exceed the Maastricht criteria threshold, with projections putting it at between 3.5% and 4%.
