Peterle: Crimes in the Name of Revolution and Totalitarism Must Be Condemned

We can celebrate the victory over Nazism and fascism, but not the revolution, said President of Slovene Christian Democrats (SKD) Lojze Peterle at the monument to those who died for free and independent Slovenia at the Ljubljana cemetery of Žale Saturday. He stressed there was one considerable difference between the VE-Day celebrations in Slovenia and in western Europe; in the west the victory was followed by freedom, democracy and reconciliation, while in Slovenia new totalitarianism came, preventing democracy for the next 45 years.
