According to a poll published by daily Delo, 67.8 percent of 730 Slovenes included in the poll would vote for Slovenia entering the EU if the referendum on this question was now. Two thirds also maintain that Slovenia will benefit from closer ties with the EU. Answering the question whether Slovenia should insist on entering the EU even if the condition for entering was a change of Slovene constitution in order to enable foreign acquisition of Slovene land, just under two thirds said "no". Two thirds think that Slovenia should not return the property to the Italians who opted for Italy after World War II. Almost a half think that the most beneficial side to a membership in the EU would be economic development. Regarding the negative implications of a EU membership, 39.9 percent answered that Slovenia could be swept and bought out by foreign capital.
