Pope Confirms First Slovenian Martyr

Novo Mesto, 28 March - Pope Benedict XVI has issued a declaration of martyrdom for Lojze Grozde, a high school student who is thought to have been tortured and killed by the Partizans during WWII. Grozde is the first beatified martyr in Slovenia, Novo mesto Bishop Andrej Glavan wrote on the website of his diocese on Sunday.
