Merkur to Cut Workforce by 1,000

Naklo, 2 September - The group around the debt-ridden hardware retailer Merkur, which employs around 4,800 people in Slovenia and abroad, will cut its workforce by some 1,000 people by the end of 2012, Merkur CEO Bojan Knuplez said on Thursday. The move is a part of a cost-cutting plan that is yet to be confirmed by creditors and supervisors.
