Maternity Ward Restructuring Plan Angers Local Communities

Ljubljana, 23 January - A proposal by an expert task force aimed at streamlining the network of gynecology and maternity hospital departments in Slovenia has sparked a heated debate in Slovenia on whether small maternity wards are needed or should be integrated into larger hospitals.

Around 50 babies are born in Slovenia every day. The Ljubljana maternity ward (pictured) handles around a third of these.
