Carnival Festivities Getting Under Way

Ptuj, 26 February - Shrovetide festivities will get under way on Saturday in the northeastern town of Ptuj, the home to the most distinctive Slovenian costume, the kurent. The festivities, running for 11 days, will culminate on 6 March with an international carnival which is expected to attract some 200,000 people.
