Opposition Enforces Registration of Common-Law Marriage

Ljubljana, 18 May - Parliament passed the family law bill at second reading late on Tuesday, backing in a 41:40 vote an opposition-sponsored amendment which defines common-law marriage as a union between man and woman who express their will to live together by signature before a state authority or have a child born from that union.

Opponents of the family law bill stage a protest in front of the parliament building in support of the traditional family.
