Slovenia: Expected Low Volume of Trade in August

Ljubljana, 10 October - SLOVENIA/IMPORT/EXPORT/AUGUST
Strongly influenced by the summer season, the volume of trade in August was, according to expectations, low, and similarly low was the industrial production volume, the National Office of Statistics reported. The high number of summer leaves makes industrial production lower which, consequently, influences the exports. Slovenia's export amounted to US $ 512.4 million in August, dropping to the lowest level in 1995. Amounting to US $ 580.7 million, the import in August was the lowest in 1995 as well. The deficit in Slovene foreign trade amounted to US $ 68.2 million in August, according to preliminary calculations, while the coverage of imports by exports was 88 percent, the same as in August 1994.
