Central Slovene Theatre Festival Borštnik Meeting Opens in Maribor

Maribor, 20 October - SLOVENIA/THEATER/BORŠTNIK/MEETING/OPENING/PELHAN
The 30th Jubilee Borštnik Meeting, the traditional central annual Slovene theatre festival, opened Friday evening in Maribor with Slovene Minister of Culture Sergij Pelhan delivering the opening speech. Borštnik Meeting is the most prominent theater event, an actual national cultural day, Minister Pelhan said. It contributes to the development of Slovene theater and culture which need not fear to be swallowed by a diversity of European cultures, Minister Pelhan stressed. Immediately after, the competition part of the festival began with Drago Jančar's play Hallstatt directed by Boris Kobal and performed by the Slovene Permanent Theatre from Trieste.
