Prospective Mercator Buyer Facing Ever Stronger Headwinds

Ljubljana, 16 December - Croatian conglomerate Agrokor, which is in talks to buy a 52% stake in Slovenia's leading grocer Mercator, is facing ever stronger opposition. After its bid was snubbed by the Mercator management and challenged by trade unions, the government stepped in on Friday saying it would oppose the "hostile takeover".
