Parliament Passes Austerity Bill

Ljubljana, 23 December - After months of failed attempts, parliament unanimously passed Friday a fiscal austerity bill, freezing social benefits, pensions and public sector pay at 2010 levels in the first half of 2012. Savings from the measure, which also prevented a previously agreed hike in public sector pay, are estimated at up to EUR 300m.
