Govt Backtracks on Norms in Education, Offers Milder Cuts

Ljubljana, 3 May - The government side is easing off on its position to tighten work standards and norms in education, which were the main stumbling block for the trade unions in the austerity talks. Education Minister Žiga Turk came out of the negotiations Thursday saying the government was willing to lower cuts in education, science and culture by about EUR 40m.
