Delo: Topics for Next Century

Ljubljana, 18 December - Delo's associate from Brussels believes the two-day summit in Madrid is one of the milestones for the European Union in that it formulated finally and with long-term consequences the European monetary and economic union. At the same time, the Madrid summit was to serve as a proof that the EU continues its stubborn search for an exit from crisis in some of essential fields. One of these is employment, or rather unemployment: heads of the EU member-countries have admitted new jobs cannot be granted by any special measures of the European Commission, but measures of the countries themselves.
