The National Assembly reappointed Drago Šketa as Slovenia's state prosecutor general on Tuesday in a 54:25 vote. He will assume another six-year term in early May. While the coalition endorsed his reappointment, the opposition voiced certain reservations about him.

The National Assembly has managed to override the upper chamber's veto on the changes to the Foreigners Act that among others postpone a basic language requirement for adult members of the families of third-country workers. The vote was 50:32.

Top representatives of the government, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GZS) and the education and research sectors signed Tuesday an agreement on strategic cooperation for technological development and an innovation breakthrough. Only through knowledge and joint action will the country's development be achieved, was the event's main message.

Prints by the celebrated Dutch painter Rembrandt will be on show at the National Gallery in Ljubljana from 26 April to 30 July, along works by artists he inspired.

The annual international Africa Day Conference will take place on Thursday and Friday at Brdo pri Kranju. The event, entitled Climate Security for the Future, will also be an important opportunity for Slovenia to lobby for support in its bid for a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council.

President Nataša Pirc Musar will pay her first official visit to Hungary on Wednesday. In addition to counterpart Katalin Novak, she will be received by Parliament President Laszlo Köver and Prime Minister Viktor Orban. The talks will focus on bilateral cooperation and the rights of the respective minorities in the two countries.
