Shares Ending the Year Slightly Higher

Shares and bonds at the Ljubljana Stock Exchange closed the 1995 business year at levels higher than initial, in spite of the SBI share index opening the year with a downward track. Starting at 1397.11 points on 31 January 1994 the latter surfed down, with occasional ups, to its all-times low on 13 July at 1016.99 points. As turnover increased in the second half of the year, the shares started to advance, bringing SBI to 1590.17 points on 9 November, the latter closing the year at 1448.75 points. Additionally, in October the Ljubljana Stock Exchange started publishing the bond index - BIO, which from the price of 100.56 points on 3 July climbed to 111.68 points at the end of the year.
