Commission Approves State Aid for Five Slovenian Banks

Brussels, 18 December - The European Commission approved state aid for five Slovenian banks on Wednesday, less than a week after the Slovenian government announced it would spend EUR 3.5bn to shore up the three leading banks, and two small failed banks which are undergoing controlled liquidation.

Brussels approves the planned state aid for five Slovenian banks which need EUR 3.5bn in fresh capital to get fit, with NLB needing the largest share of the sum.
