OLYMPICS: Maze Finishes 8th in Slalom
Sochi, 21 February - Downhill and giant slalom Olympic champion Tina Maze finished Friday's slalom race in Sochi in eight place after still hoping for a medal following the first run. Gold went to US skier Mikaela Shiffrin and silver and bronze to Austria's Marlies Schild and Kathrin Zettel.
Maze, who has not been in great slalom form this season, managed the third time of the first run, but botched the second run, dropping five places.
Despite of being the most successful skier of the Sochi Olympics, the 30-year-old was visibly upset after the race.
"When things don't work, they just don't work. It's no fun skiing like that. I can't stand slalom. I felt tired and I think this is normal," said Maze, who competed in all five events at the Olympics.
