Railways: Announced Strike Not Justified

Ljubljana, 5 April - RAILWAYS/STRIKE
Demands of railway trade unions present an increased volume of funds needed for salaries of 11.5 billion (US$ 85 million) or an 48 percent increase of the salaries in railway field, which would bring about a collapse of the system of the Slovenske železnice Slovene railways. Regarding the fact that the strike announced for 10 April would not be caused by a breach of the collective agreement, the strike would be illegitimate and would not be paid for, Director of Slovenske železnice Marjan Rekar told a news conference Friday.
