WWI Extracted Heavy Human Toll in Slovenia

Ljubljana, 16 June - The Battles of the Isonzo loom large in the Slovenian collective psyche. Isonzo was the only front line to cut through Slovenian lands, and it was one of the bloodiest theatres of the First World War. However, the bulk of the estimated 36,000 Slovenian military casualties perished in Galicia in present-day Poland and some even farther afield.
