Despite the fact that several representatives of business and economy persistently argue that by joining the EU Slovenia will gain more than lose, it has become more or less clear that the "European integration" will hit hard on the Slovene agriculture, mainly in the north-east of the country, where the majority of agricultural areas with food processing industry are based. In particular if we do not act immediately and, following Austria's example, design quality regional programmes on restructuring the entire economy in all regions, the Maribor daily Večer writes Tuesday.
