Thaler and Schuessel on Bilateral Relations and Slovene Accession to EU

Ljubljana, 19 April - SLOVENIA/AUSTRIA/THALER/SHUESSEL
Austrian Foreign Minister Wolfgang Schuessel, paying a one-day official visit to Ljubljana, signed an agreement Friday with Slovene Minister of Foreign Affairs Zoran Thaler on early exchange of information in cases of radioactive danger and on issues of common interest in the field of nuclear safety and radiation protection. Minister Thaler also informed his colleague Schuessel on recent Parliament's decisions regarding Slovene accession to the European Union and the activities conducted in this respect. Thaler stressed it was in the interest of Slovenia to be in the first group of countries to enter negotiations on full membership with the EU six months after the conclusion of the EU intergovernmental conference. The Ministers also discussed the position of Slovene minority living in Austria and the border regime on the Slovene - Austrian border.
