Referendum: How Do the Swiss Do It?

The president of the state has to call parliamentary elections by 7 October at the latest, and by that time all potential alterations to the electoral legislation should have been adopted, or else the elections will be conducted in accordance with the present law. This is probably the only firm starting point in speculations about what kind of electoral system will be applied in this autumn elections in Slovenia. This fact has been pointed out again and again by Speaker Jožef Školč while urging the MPs and parties to try to agree on minimal compromise on alterations to the legislation and to ensure the two-third support in parliamentary voting.
