Flooding Claims First Victim
Vransko, 13 September - Swollen waters in eastern Slovenia claimed the first victim Saturday. In the vicinity of Vransko, some 50 km north-east of Ljubljana, a car plunged into a stream due to eroded banks. One person was killed and a second passenger in the car is still missing.

The swollen Krka in the vicinity of Novo mesto. Further downstream, at Kostanjevica, the river spilled over, causing extensive flooding in what is one of the most flood-prone areas in the country.
