Bratušek Withdraws, Prompting Scramble for New Nominee

Brussels/Ljubljana, 9 October - A day after being overwhelmingly rejected by two committees in the European Parliament, former Prime Minister Alenka Bratušek withdrew her bid to become a vice-president of the EU Commission on Thursday, prompting a scramble to put forward a new nominee.
