Slovene Teachers Go on Strike

Ljubljana, 7 May - TEACHERS/STRIKE
As many as 21,000 teachers at 533 elementary and secondary schools as well as music schools and kindergartens in Slovenia went on a one-day warning strike Tuesday. According to Branimir Å trukelj, Secretary General of the Schooling, Education and Science Trade Union, the strike has been proceeding peacefully. A special group of government experts and representatives of the union is to meet on Wednesday to discuss the teachers' demands.
