aribor, 19 May (STA) - Pope John Paul II arrived in Maribor Sunday morning. On the arrival to the Maribor Airport the Holy Father was welcomed by Maribor Bishop Franc Kramberger and then the Pope started a Holy mass concelebrated by numerous bishops and cardinals. The mass is attended by about 100,000 people, including the faithful from Croatia, Austria and Hungary.***

        It was expected that the Pope would canonize Bishop Anton Martin Slomšek during his stay in Slovenia. The Pope has already signed a decree by which the Congregation for Beatification and Canonization accepts and confirms the holiness of the life of Anton Martin Slomšek, but according to the rules of the beatification procedure, he will not officially beatify the bishop. This is to happen in the months to come - this period is necessary for the examination and confirmation of the discussion about miracles.
