Independence Logical Result of Democratisation, Historian Says
Ljubljana, 6 April - Slovenia's independence was a logical result of democratisation taking place in the second half of the 1980s, says historian Zdenko Čepič. He believes 1989 was the ground-breaking year because in that year the Slovenian Communist authorities allowed competing parties to emerge despite opposition from Belgrade.
