Road Safety Before Tourist Season Disastrous

Ljubljana, 1 July - TZS/ROADS/SAFETY
Road safety in Slovenia is disastrous, police spokesman Bojan Matevžič told a news conference Monday, given by the Tourist Association of Slovenia (TZS) to present police activities, inspection services and operation of the National Motorway Company (DARS) at the beginning of the main tourist season. Though death toll dropped four percent and the number of accidents with severely wounded was 10 per cent lower, the figures went up again in June. An average of nearly two persons a day die in Slovenia roads, which places Slovenia even behind countries such as Hungary, the Czech Republic and Poland, told Matevžič.
