Slovenians make history with the first tandem ski jump

Planica, 24 February - Slovenian ski jumpers Rok Urbanc and Jaka Rus made history last week by making the first tandem jump ever at the cradle of Slovenian ski jumping in Planica.

The idea of two jumpers taking flight on just one pair of skis was floated by Marko Filej of the web platform Trainers4me.com, who has recently presented it to ski jumping coach Vasja Bajc.

"He thought too that the idea was bold, but he believed in it. He presented to us Rok Urbanc and Jaka Rus, who have successfully made the historic jump," Filej told the press after the event that took place last Thursday.

Urbanc, who won the World Cup event in Zakopane, Czech Republic, in 2007 and Rus, who jumped at 195 metres as a warm-up jumper in this year's Ski Flying World Cup event in Austria's Kulm, were also excited about the jump. "We cannot believe that we made it."

A video of the historic jump was uploaded on YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M1qZdnuk4DU) on Sunday and has since went viral.
