Tina Maze goes from skier to schoolteacher
Ljubljana, 17 May - A year after taking a gap year from skiing, Slovenian champion Tina Maze has donned her graduation cap. She is now formally a teacher of elementary education, having graduated from the Maribor Faculty of Education on Monday.
"Happy and proud," the 33-year-old Maze wrote on Twitter, noting that after a successful sports career she has now become a school teacher.
Maze, Slovenia's best skier of all times, announced she was taking a year off skiing last May.
Frequently quizzed by reporters as to whether she will return to the World Cup circuit, Maze has been coy, leaving the option open.
