Runners to explore Tivoli Park, Mount Krvavec
Ljubljana, 25 May - Women of all ages will compete on Saturday in Ljubljana's Tivoli Park in the 11th Run for Women, sponsored by the DM-drogerie markt retail chain, while more demanding runners will explore the slopes of Mt Krvavec.
Adults will compete in the five and ten kilometre categories, while children will be able to pick among a 400- and 800-metre runs.
The event is meant to bring together those who want to hang out outdoors and spend some time exercising.
More demanding runners will meanwhile be able to take part in the two-day Krvavec Trail event on the slopes of Mt Krvavec in the Kamnik Alps.
On Sunday, the 6-km trail will lead the runners as many as 1,300 metres up the mountain, while in Sunday's Sky Run the runners will be able to pick between a 21-km run (a 1,800-metre climb) and a 10-km run.
The humanitarian organisation Never Give Up is meanwhile organising throughout the entire week humanitarian runs in Trbovlje, Tolmin, Trebnje, Škofja Loka, Ljutomer, Koper, Ravne na Koroškem, Radovljica, Ptuj and Ljubljana.
The "10 laps for 10 smiles" runs are taking place every day between 4 PM and 8 PM in local stadiums, with individual participants running or walking a random number of laps and receiving a participation gift.
