Slovene Banks to Increase Competition Abilities

Ljubljana, 22 August - Competition between banks on the Slovene market has been increasing which is reflected in decreasing interest rates through the last two-year period. The decrease in interest rates has been also an effect of an agreement between the banks in Slovenia concluded with a help of administrative pressure of the Bank of Slovenia. Decrease in interest rates has still not been an often enough effect of growing productivity and lower costs. With foreign banks coming in Slovenia, Slovene banks will have to increase competition, said director of the Factor banka Fabio Škopac, answering the Slovene Press Agency's (STA) questions about the growing competition between banks and how the Slovene banks are prepared for foreign banks "arrival" in Slovenia.
