Weekly Review of Slovenia's Economic Activity from 17 through 24 August

Ljubljana, 24 August - Slovenia introduced first level of electricity reduction measures Friday morning. There will be expectedly no sealing-offs although the situation in Slovene electric energetic system is highly critical, Elektro Slovenia reported. Slovenia's daily consumption is approximately 26 million KWh, while Slovene production amounts to only 20 million KWh. The situation became extremely critical due to a fault on the fifth block of the Šoštanj thermal electric plant, lower production of hydro electric plants and difficulties in dispatch networks in Italy and Austria, which reduced imports to make up for the lack of domestic electricity.
