Reform of Payment System in Slovenia

"With an amendment of the Law on Agency for Payments, Supervision and Informing a possibility was given to banks to carry out payments under certain conditions defined by the Bank of Slovenia and the Ministry of Finances. A project of a reform of Slovenia's payment systems, which is based on the work of eight working groups including bankers, was launched by the Bank of Slovenia in September 1994, after the Bank's Council drew a conclusion on a need to change the payment system. It must be stressed that payments are a typical bank business and will be carried out by banks", Slovene Press Agency was told by head of the project and director of the payment system department of the Bank of Slovenia mag.
