Tourist Visits to Slovenia Sligthly Increase in 1996; Tourist Nights Down

Ljubljana, 25 August - In the first six months of 1996, the number of visiting tourists increased by two percent in Slovenia's tourist resorts. According to the National Office of Statistics, a total of 698,153 visitors (56 percent from Slovenia and 44 percent form abroad) accounted for 2.34 million tourist nights in this period, a two percent decrease over the same period last year. Foreign tourist nights recorded the sharpest decrease (by four percent).
