Slovenia gets papal greetings from high above

Ljubljana, 28 July - Pope Francis sent a cable to President Borut Pahor while on flight to Poland on Wednesday in which he greeted and blessed the president and all Slovenians.

"On entering Slovenian airspace during my journey to Poland, I am sending my warm greetings to Your Excellency and your fellow citizens and calling God's blessing upon the nation," the pope said in the cable to Pahor as quoted on the web site of the Slovenian Bishops' Conference.

Pope Francis on Wednesday arrived on his first visit to Poland to preside over the World Youth Day jamboree in Krakow, which is also being attended by some 560 young pilgrims from Slovenia.
