No winter for diehard runners

Ljubljana, 16 November - Winter may be coming, but diehard runners will not stack their running shoes in the closet. Recreational runners who are not afraid of bad weather can use every Saturday of the winter to keep in shape regardless of the weather as a weekly winter running league near Velenje starts this week.

Participants can run on the 5.6 km track around Lake Škale individually or in groups with a start every Saturday between 9 AM and 9:45 AM.

The winners with the best total time of four laps will be announced on 4 February 2017, while all participants who will run at least three times will receive a medal with the time of their best lap.

But this Saturday will also offer a challenge for runners who are not so keen on running in winter conditions or rain.

With poor weather prospects for Saturday, runners may choose a safer but more challenging option at the 3rd Alive Step Up run up Ljubljana's Crystal Palace, which starts at 11 AM.

Those taking the challenge or just participating for fun should get ready to climb 459 stairs or 20 stories with a total elevation of 89 metres.
