The funding campaign for the turntable, which uses a magnetic platter enabling the vinyl record to float as it is played, was launched in October and reached its target of US$ 300,000 in its first week.

In the full 40 days of the campaign, more than 700 supporters have pledged more than US$ 550,000 (EUR 518,000).

"We knew the product was good and would attract much attention, but we were nevertheless pleasantly surprised by the final figure. It is excellent motivation for further work, but we also realise that now it's for real," MAG-LEV Audio said.

The company said it was in talks about production and distribution, and was currently carrying out the final tests to ensure flawless operation.

Supporters had to pledge between US$ 780 and US$ 940 to receive the product. Most of the turntables will be sent to the US, Germany and Slovenia. The first turntable will be shipped in August next year.

The product is a joint effort of MAG-LEV AUDIO, design studio Desnahemisfera and tech company Topsol.

It is to date the second most successful Slovenian Kickstarter campaign. FlyKly remains the record holder with over $700,000 raised for their smart battery-powered hub for bicycle wheels in 2013.
