Ruling SMC proposes reintroduction of 2 January as work-free day

Ljubljana, 29 November - The senior coalition Modern Centre Party (SMC) has announced it will file on Wednesday a proposal to reintroduce 2 January as a bank holiday. The move, which the SMC says is the result of stabler public finances, comes after the holiday was scrapped by the Democrats (SDS)-led government as part of austerity measures in 2012.
