Santa run or literary hikes
Ljubljana, 14 December - Recreational runners and hikers will have a selection of events this week strongly affected by the holiday season.
The third Santa Run, held on Friday, is a charity event in Slovenia raising funds for the Slovenian clown doctors, the association Rdeči noski.
Runs of six or twelve kilometres over the Rožnik hill in Ljubljana are available, as is a 2-kilometre walk with candles for those who are not fans of running in sub-zero weather. More information is available at www.tekbozickov.si.
On Saturday, numerous mountaineering societies will organise hikes in memory of Prežihov Voranc, an early 20th-century writer, dubbed Over the Mountain to See Father.
The night hikes start in Slovenia and end in Austria, in memory of an eponymous Voranc book that describes his planned clandestine Second World War hike to see his father.
Several societies will organise the hikes, including in Lendava (www.pdlendava.si), Mislinja (www.pdmislinja.si), Murska Sobota (www.pdmaticams-drustvo.si), Prebold (www.pd-prebold.si) and Ribnica (www.pdribnicanapohorju.si).
