Active New Year's Eve or refreshing New Year's Day
Ljubljana, 28 December - Plenty of recreational events will available for an active New Year's weekend around Slovenia. Despite the cold, the dry weather forecast looks favourable for different events this weekend, from running and cycling to a refreshing start of a new year with a dip in the sea.
On the last day of the year, recreational runners will be able to take part in a traditional run in the northern region of Koroško on a 1150-metre track around the Javornik quarter of Ravne na Koroškem. All participants receive practical gifts. More information available from www.tic-ravne.si.
Those more keen on cycling will be able to join Slovenian ultra-marathon cyclist Marko Baloh for an easy-tempo 158-kilometre ride starting in Sežana. A shorter version of the track (110 km) is also available for less prepared cyclists.
After lively New Year's celebrations around the country, many will also choose a refreshing jump into the sea or rivers. The event in the coastal town of Portorož attracts more and more swimmers every year. More information is available at www.novoletniskokvmorje.eu.
