Snow in focus of recreational events this weekend
Ljubljana, 18 January - After Slovenia turned white with a long-awaited shipment of snow last week, the white surface will be in the focus of recreational events this weekend. Promotional events for winter sports will be organised in the centre of Ljubljana on Saturday. But a plethora of mountain hikes will also be available to fans of winter hiking.
An actual ski jump will be set up for children in the centre of Ljubljana, with ski jumping ambassador and former world champion Franci Petek present between 10 AM and 1 PM.
The event will also promote winter events at alpine and cross-country skiing venues around Slovenia. More information is available at www.szlj.si/novice/3635.
The promotion in Ljubljana comes a week after FIS World Snow Day was marked at the Planica ski-jumping venue with an event for children.
Those with a bit more of a daredevil spirit in them will meanwhile be able to join a three-day ice climbing course, organised by the Ljubljana-Matica Mountaineering and Climbing Club: http://www.pd-ljmatica.si/Index.
