Enthusiasts in for virtual charity cycling race, wine-themed hike
Ljubljana, 25 January - Recreational enthusiasts will be able to join this week a 24-hour virtual cycling marathon or a wine-themed hike on the hills near the city of Novo mesto (SE).
The participants will ride exercise bikes in the Millenium sports centre in Ljubljana from Friday noon to Saturday noon while watching shots of American and Slovenian landscape on the big screen.
The cycling race will be hosted by Slovenian ultra cyclist Marko Baloh as part of preparations for his 9th Race Across America (RAAM).
The event has a charity note as participants are expected to donate non-perishable food items to a local charity organisation.
Those who like to be outdoors will meanwhile be able to take part in Saturday's wine-themed hike on the forest, macadam and tarmac paths in the wine-growing hills above Novo mesto.
There will be a number of "checkpoints" along the route where participants will be served local delicacies, the Cviček wine and warm drinks.
Those who finish the 16-km hike, which is expected to take between four and six hours, will also get a warm meal at the finish line.
