Run for a humanitarian cause, learn cross-country skiing
Nova Gorica, 1 February - Recreationists are invited this week to take part in a humanitarian race in Nova Gorica (W) or learn the basics of cross country skiing under the sponsorship of Olympic medallist Petra Majdič.
The 4th Goricatlon, taking place on Saturday, is expected to feature a record number of participants because it serves as a prelude to the new running season.
It is a 12-hour running event with a humanitarian cause, featuring teams with twelve runners.
Each runner runs for about an hour on a circular, one-kilometre track, with teams donating one, three or five euros for each completed lap.
Petra Majdič and One Way Team Slovenija cross-country skiing course will meanwhile take place until March on courses of the Pokljuka and Rogla plateaus and the Planica Nordic Centre.
If there is enough snow, courses for beginners held by experienced instructors - former competitors and national team members - will also be held in Ljubljana and surroundings.
The course is sponsored by Olympic and world championship medallist Petra Majdič.
