Explore Slovenian plateaus on skis, swim in Bled Lake
Ljubljana, 15 February - What Slovenia has to offer to recreationists this week is cross-country skiing on seven plateaus, starting with Pohorje near Maribor and concluding at Pokljuka, and winter swimming in Lake Bled.
The cross-country tour of the seven plateaus starts on Saturday and concludes on 26 February and also includes stages in Golte, Velika planina, Snežnik, Trnovo Forest and Jelovica.
Tracks for classic style of cross-country skiing, set at altitudes between 800 and 1,600 metres, include demanding descents and ascents and are thus not intended for beginners.
Bled, which hosted the world championship in winter swimming in 2010, will meanwhile be a venue to test your courage and swim in the almost ice-cold lake on Saturday.
The 6th Bled Cup in Winter Swimming will have its base at the outdoor swimming pool of Grand Hotel Toplice, while the very competition will take place in the lake.
After the competition, the participants will be able to warm up in the hotel's saunas and indoor swimming pool.
